Google AdSense and Blogs
by: Diane Nassy

If you have a blog, or are thinking about starting a blog, then you are definitely going to want to read this article. It’s all about how to line your pockets with money that’s just waiting to be made without working much harder than you already are.

No only are blogs the hottest thing on the net right now, but they are custom-made for Google’s AdSense program. Why? It’s simple. Blogs represent constantly changing and fresh content to Google’s search engine spiders. Feeding fresh content to those little spiders is just like tossing raw meat to a tiger. They just gobble it up. The more pages of your blog that get indexed, the more traffic you get. And the more traffic you get, the more exposure your AdSense ads get. Are you beginning to see where I’m heading here?

It’s not just Google that loves new content, all of the major engines do. In fact, some web-savvy bloggers are testing Google ads on one page and Overture ads on the other. It doesn’t take too long to see which ads are doing the best when you have nearly side-by-side comparison statistics to look at. Just don’t make the mistake of putting Google and Overture ads on the same page together. While they won’t kill each other like a pair of Siamese fighting fish in the same bowel will, you will be violating both sites’ Terms of Service, and it isn’t worth killing the goose (geese) that laid the golden egg.

It’s a snap to set up Google AdSense ads on your blog. Everything you need to know is right inside of the Google control panel. What’s not so easy is figuring out what ads are going to appear on each page. Since Google targets your key words, and your blog articles could possible wander towards any subject, you never know what you’re going to get.

Well, “never” is a strong word because there actually IS a way to pre-test your blog’s ads before you post your newest edition. Here’s what you do:

• Write your blog article like you normally would
• Plug in your AdSense code and then post your newest page to a sub directory that’s not part of your blog.
• Click refresh a few times until Google wakes up and starts sending ads.
• If you don’t like what you see then fine-tune the article until you see the types of ads that you’re looking for.

With some ads paying as much as $5 per click or more, I’d certainly spend an extra 30 minutes or so tweaking my blog. That’s for sure.

If you’re working hard to get your blog in front of visiting eyeballs, then it doesn’t make any sense at NOT to be using Google AdSense to draw every penny out of your site that’s possible. OK, that’s the end of the article. Now get busy tweaking your blog and checking your ads. You’ve got money waiting to be made!

Six Easy Steps to Making Money with Your Blog
By: Don James

I'm going to give you 6 quick pointers on how to optimize your blog to drive traffic and hopefully earn some extra Adsense and affiliate income.

One huge benefit of using blogging as a means to create your site vs. trying to build your own is the ability to monetize your content immediately and not have to worry about page layout, graphics, hosting, domain names, and content management. This is a massive time saver when using the free bloggers such as Blogger or Wordpress hosting. The downside is that you cannot fully control the fine tuning of your site for specific optimizations. Nevertheless, you must let go of this desire and focus on your content - which is a very good thing.

So, let's start with the key topics you need to consider when optimizing a blog:

1. The Blogging Service
2. Layout
3. Links
4. Keywords
5. Traffic
6. Site Tricks

1. The Blogging Service - this is a very important choice because some of the free blogging services do not allow you to place context ad such as AdSense on the free blogging service (they allow it if you host your own blog). Because of this I strongly recommend using Blogger as your free service since it is easy to use and is ad friendly.

2. Layout - since you are using a free service you must get over the desire to control your site. Let go! Most free blogging sites allow you to tweak the layout somewhat. There are some tricks you can use to easily keep your site a blog but at the same time add sections as if you were on your own site. For example, keep one blog entry for all of your favorite external links and descriptions. This is where you can continue your link sharing with other sites and continually add new ones. Now, add a specific link to this article on the sidebar so that there is a direct reference when the article gets archived. That way any readers will always find the links article and not have to search or stumble upon it. (Note, you can use this same technique for additional pages that refer to specific topics so that you have a directory of topics on your sidebars).

3. Links - besides the links I noted in #2 you should always use plenty of linking from within every article you publish. The internet values links and the more you use from your blog entries the better. Other sites pay attention to who's linking to them and when they see a referral in their logs your appreciation level increases. Also, add your favorite affiliate and topic links to your sidebars.

4. Keywords - I cannot stress the importance of this but I'm not going to go into detail on keyword identification other than to say that each blog entry should focus on a SEO keyword phrase or name - especially the title. Be sure to use your titles carefully and use the same keywords in your entry. This will mark the blog entry to the keyword topic (remember, each blog entry is a separate web page that can be indexed). Also, be sure to include the keyword near the end of the blog entry as well.

5. Traffic - don't forget to promote your blog to drive traffic! Use all the means possible to do this - forums, articles, reprint rights, etc. Be sure to post well written comments on other highly ranked blog sites. However, don't make the mistake and write only a quick comment. Always write your responses in a way that is interesting and direct to the point. There's enough free material out there to do this!

6. Site Tricks - another simple technique is to place hard coded links to your favorite blog entries and articles in the bottom of the Blog template. That way it will show up on every page. Eventually you can make this your site map which is very important to the search engines. The last thing you want is your blog links to be archived!!

And, of course, don't forget to add your AdSense sections.

Just by completing these 6 simple tasks you can get your blog monetized in no time at all!

Google AdSense / PPC Programs

Nowadays undoubtedly Google AdSense is the most popular Pay Per Click (PPC) program in the industry. By registering Google AdSense using your website address (or even blog), Google AdSense will display a series of ads on your web pages. You are eligible to earn money every time a visitor clicks on these ads. Visitors don’t really have to buy anything. Hence, these programs called Pay Per Click (PPC) – you get paid per visitors’ clicks.

Google ads are contextually relevant, and assigned based on their relevancy to the subject of your site. To place Google Ads on your website, you need to copy the codes (HTML codes) from your Google AdSense account and paste into the HTML source code of your site.

However, as a website owner, you are strictly prohibited from clicking on these Google ads displayed on your own website, as according to Google AdSense’s policies / terms and conditions. Otherwise you are deemed to make a click fraud and Google AdSense may ban your account. Hence, make sure you read through and understand their terms and conditions before getting started.

Perhaps you are wondering why this appeared to be a very famous money making method. A very simple answer is, you earn great money by simply placing Google ads on your web pages and let visitors click on these ads.

Despite Google AdSense, there are other PPC programs that you can look for, e.g. as listed below. They serve like Google AdSense too, but with slightly different features.

5 Ways How I Boosted My Google AdSense Earnings By 700%
by: Mohd Fairuz
Webmasters | August 20, 2006

Google AdSense is a great way for webmasters to monetize their websites. While many webmasters are struggling hard to earn $3 - $10 per day, some 'genius' webmasters have already enjoyed $30, $100, and even $300 a day from AdSense ads on their websites. How are these 'genius' webmasters differ from their counterparts? They think different! They think out of the box!

Let me share with you some tips which has been responsible in boosting my AdSense profits by 700%. Here are 5 of them, and if you follow these steps, I'm sure you'll see a difference in your AdSense income.

Here are the tips:

1- I concentrate on 1 format of AdSense ad, which is the Large Rectangle (336x280). This format has been proven to work with me in resulting high click-through rates (CTR). Why this format? Because the ads look like normal web links, and people are trained to click on these types of links.

2- I create custom palette for my ads. I choose white as the color for the border and background. This is because, all of my pages have white background. The idea is to make the AdSense ads look like they are a part of my web pages.

3- Previously, I put all my AdSense ads at the bottom of my pages. One day, I moved those ads to the top of the page. The result surprised me. My earning increased! Since then, I don't hide my AdSense ads anymore!

4- I maintain some links to other relevant websites, and I put my AdSense ads at the top of the links, so that my visitors see them first.

5- I automate the insertion of AdSense code into my webpages using SSI (server side included). You'll need to ask your web administrator whether your server supports SSI or not. Here's how to do it. You just put the AdSense code in a text file, save it as 'adsense.txt', and upload it to the root directory of your web server. Next, call the code on other pages using SSI.

This trick is really a time saver especially for those who use automatic page generators to generate pages on their
website.

Here's a tool I use to generate thousands of pages on my website within seconds:

6 Easy Ways to Increase your AdSense Revenue
by: Scott Patterson

“The following are six ways that you can do this and increase your revenue at the same time:

1) Find the right place - Most website visitors read content that is in the middle of a web page. As a result, the best place to put your AdSense block is in the top part of the page, at the beginning of your web content. You want to weave the Google Ads into your web content to give the appearance that they are extra links which expand on the information of the page.

2) Use the Large Rectangle - With Google AdSense, you have the option of picking different ad formats. Most of the time people opt to use the Leader board (728x90) or Wide Skyscraper (160x600) style ads. Unfortunately, this is the wrong choice, because both look like blatant advertisements. Instead smart webmasters have found that using the Large Rectangle (336x280) yields the best amount of click-thrus.

3) Ditch the border - Many people experience a sharp increase in AdSense revenue when they changing their border. What they change is very simple…they get rid of the border on their AdSense blocks. This is another way to make the advertisements look like useful web content.

4) Adapt the font - Whenever you write content, it should be the same font size and style as your Google AdSense block. This will help make it appear that the advertisements are a natural part of your website.

5) Match the colors - In addition to changing the fonts, you also should match the colors of your website. For instance, if your content is written in black, and your hyperlinks are blue, then the AdSense blocks should also be the same color. Again, this helps the advertisements appear to be normal web content.

6) Don't have too many distractions - On a web page, it is important to give web visitor a limited number of options. By having too many links and graphics, the web visitor might go to a section that doesn't help increase your profits. While it is important to inform and entertain your web visitor, it is also vital that you monetize your site. So if the main focus of your site is to earn an income through Google AdSense, then get rid of all non-essential links and graphics.

By taking the time to implement these six simple steps, you'll see a dramatic increase in the click-thru ratio of your ads. If added to all of the content of your site, your AdSense income will skyrocket!”

How to Select a Profitable Affiliate Program to Promote
By: Jason Oickle

Not too long ago Internet marketing experts coined the words, “content is king.” Basically, this is the foundation of Internet marketing, whereas articles and content were the primary tool to promote an online business’ services or products.

Many people find it easy to earn more money by selling products or services that they did not create. This is called affiliate marketing and it can be the easiest way to start making money online.

But what exactly is affiliate marketing? What is meant by the term “affiliate”?

Since the Internet appeared, many people have been able to find lucrative ways to earn money online. One of the best ways is through affiliate marketing. To be an affiliate means to promote someone else's product or service in exchange for commissions.

With affiliate marketing, the advertiser will create a link to the affiliate’s web site, the customer will just click on the link and he will be instantly directed to the company’s site. If a sale is made the affiliate will be credited for the sale.

Despite its money-spitting features, not all affiliate programs are worth the effort. Some affiliate programs can provide maximum earning potential, while others are not worth the affiliate’s time and effort. Therefore, it is very important to choose the right affiliate program to gain maximum earning potential.

Here’s how:

1. Look for the best affiliate programs

The simplest and probably the quickest way to find affiliate programs would be with the search engines. You can find thousand of sites that offer affiliate programs. However for newbies, it is best to try out the free to join affiliate programs. They can be very lucrative as well.

2. Your interests

Try to find affiliate programs that are based around your interests. As in advertising, it is not a good idea for a commercial model or an advertiser to promote a product that they are not interested in, It will create conflict.

3. The right price…

Obviously, money is the main reason why you would join an affiliate program. So it is normal to choose the affiliate program that offers the best commissions and incentives. Experts say the best percentage of commissions in affiliate programs would be the ones that offer 25% or higher commissions.

4. Instant statistical reports

Try to choose affiliate programs that offer real-time reports and statistics. Also it's best to choose programs that provide you the ability to track your performance and to monitor the merchant as well. Be on the lookout for tracking software or programs that an affiliate program can provide.

5. Safety is the best policy

Make sure you get paid. Since the dawn of the Internet, there have been countless frauds and deceptions lurking in the virtual sites. Therefore, choose an affiliate program that will definitely pay you the commissions you deserve.

6. In high demand

It is best to promote products or services that are in high demand. After all, you don't want to waste you time and effort promoting a product if it's not going to make you any money. Research your target market to find the products people are looking to buy.

7. Real products to sell

Be cautious of some affiliate programs that lure you to join and make you believe you will be selling a particular product, only to find out that the program is a pyramid scheme.

Given all that, it is best to meticulously choose an affiliate program that will not give you a run for your money. Try to be very picky when choosing the affiliate program you will promote. Choosing the wrong affiliate program can definitely do you more harm than good.
